About VisaEvo

About VisaEvo

What is VisaEvo?

VisaEvo is self-service software that helps UK spouse and partner visa applicants organise their application. It includes a document organiser, checklist generator, financial calculator against the published £29,000 threshold, and gov.uk search — all based on publicly available government guidance. You prepare your own application; VisaEvo provides tools to stay organised and on track.

Everything is sourced from gov.uk and presented in plain English alongside links to the official rules.

Is VisaEvo a law firm or immigration adviser?

No. VisaEvo is not a law firm, immigration adviser, or OISC-regulated body. It is self-service preparation software — similar in spirit to tax-filing tools — that helps you organise documents, run financial calculations, and track evidence against gov.uk requirements. You make every decision about your application; we do not tell you what to do or whether you qualify.

For regulated immigration advice on your specific situation, consult an OISC adviser or solicitor.

What's the difference between VisaEvo and using a solicitor?

A regulated solicitor or immigration adviser can assess your situation, tell you what to do, and represent you. VisaEvo is software only: it helps you organise documents, calculate figures against published thresholds, and search gov.uk guidance — but you interpret the results and submit the application yourself. Many straightforward cases are self-prepared; complex cases may benefit from professional advice.

VisaEvo costs a one-time fee; solicitor fees are typically much higher for the same preparation work.

About the UK Spouse Visa

About the UK Spouse Visa

Where can I find official information about UK spouse visas?

All authoritative UK spouse and partner visa rules live on gov.uk, particularly gov.uk/uk-family-visa for eligibility, financial requirements, documents, English language, and accommodation. VisaEvo surfaces this same guidance in plain English and links back to the official source on every page — but gov.uk is always the definitive reference. Check it directly before you apply, as rules can change.

Our guides summarise key topics but never replace the official source.

What is the financial requirement?

The UK spouse visa Minimum Income Requirement (MIR) is currently £29,000 per year, as published on gov.uk. You can meet it through salaried employment, self-employment, pensions, specified other income, cash savings, or a combination — each route has different evidence rules. Caseworkers refuse applications when figures do not reconcile or evidence is missing, not just when the total is short.

Always confirm the current threshold at gov.uk/uk-family-visa/proof-income before gathering evidence.

Can savings be used?

Yes. According to gov.uk, cash savings can meet part or all of the UK spouse visa financial requirement, provided they have been held for at least six months and meet the published threshold and formula. Savings can also be combined with qualifying income to make up any shortfall. You must evidence the balance with bank statements covering the required period.

The exact savings threshold and combination rules are set at gov.uk/uk-family-visa/proof-income.

Software Features

Software Features

What does the checklist generator do?

Based on what you tell us about your situation — visa route, employment type, dependants — the checklist generator builds a personalised document list from gov.uk guidance. You tick off what you have gathered and see what is still missing. It does not decide what goes in your application; you remain responsible for every document you submit.

Paid plans unlock the full custom checklist; the free tier includes sample checklists.

What does the financial calculator do?

Enter your income sources and cash savings and the calculator compares your totals against the published £29,000 Minimum Income Requirement on gov.uk. It handles annualisation, savings formulas, and combination rules so you can see whether your figures meet the threshold. It does the maths; you interpret the result and decide what to do next.

The free tier includes a basic calculator; paid plans unlock the full version with all income routes.

What does the document organiser do?

Upload and organise your visa documents in one place on your device. The organiser checks file formats and sizes, helps you label and group evidence, and can bundle files into a single PDF for your application pack. It is a productivity tool for managing your files — it does not review the legal adequacy of your evidence.

Document upload and PDF bundling are available on paid plans.

What information sources does VisaEvo use?

All information in VisaEvo is sourced from publicly available gov.uk guidance on UK family visas. We provide plain English summaries alongside direct links to the official source on every relevant screen. We do not interpret the rules for your situation or add requirements beyond what gov.uk publishes.

When gov.uk updates its guidance, we update the software to match.

Offline & Data Storage

Offline & Data Storage

Does VisaEvo work offline?

Yes. Your checklist and progress are stored locally in your browser, so you can keep working without an internet connection. A banner tells you when you are offline, and your changes are still there when you reconnect. Document uploads and gov.uk search require a connection, but core preparation tools work offline.

For the most reliable offline experience, use a regular browsing window rather than private/incognito mode.

Related: How local-first storage works

Where is my data stored?

By default, all data is stored locally in your browser's IndexedDB — nothing is sent to external servers unless you explicitly enable cloud backup on the Complete plan. Your documents and checklist stay on your device and remain available even without an internet connection. Cloud backup, when enabled, uses encrypted UK-based infrastructure.

See our security and GDPR pages for full details on encryption and your data rights.

Related: Security overview · GDPR and your rights

What happens if I use private/incognito browsing?

In private or incognito browsing mode, some browsers restrict or disable IndexedDB, which VisaEvo uses for local storage. The software will still work during your session, but your checklist progress and uploaded documents may not persist after you close the tab. For the best experience, use a regular browsing window.

If you need to use private browsing, export or back up your work before closing the tab.

Related: Data storage details

What if my browser storage is full?

If your device's storage is full, you will see a warning in the checklist. The software continues to work in memory for your current session, but new uploads may fail until space is freed. You can remove uploaded files within VisaEvo or clear unused browser data to recover space.

Complete plan users can enable cloud backup to reduce reliance on local storage.

Important Information

Important Information

Should I use VisaEvo instead of getting professional advice?

VisaEvo is preparation software, not a replacement for professional immigration advice. Many straightforward spouse visa applications are self-prepared successfully. If your case is complex — previous refusals, criminal history, unusual financial arrangements, or dependants with special circumstances — you may wish to consult a regulated immigration adviser alongside using VisaEvo.

VisaEvo and professional advice are not mutually exclusive; some applicants use both.

Related: VisaEvo vs a solicitor · Find a regulated adviser

What if I need immigration advice?

Immigration advice in the UK must be provided by someone regulated by the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC) or a qualified solicitor. VisaEvo is neither — we provide software tools only. For advice on whether you qualify, what route to use, or how to respond to a refusal, consult a regulated adviser.

You can search the OISC register at gov.uk/find-an-immigration-adviser.

Related: Find an immigration adviser · Contact VisaEvo support

Who is responsible for my application?

You are. VisaEvo provides software tools to help you organise your application, but you make all decisions and are responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of everything you submit to UK Visas and Immigration. We do not review your application before submission or guarantee an outcome.

Always double-check your figures and documents against the current gov.uk guidance before applying.
